I did finish Drums of Autumn on CD. It was very good and I just started Fiery Cross, the next book in the series. I'm so glad I had it ready because it starts right where the last one left off.
Michelle left a comment about showing you all what I do with all my finished projects. And the answer is, sadly, nothing. I put them in a rubbermaid bin in between layers of acid free tissue paper. I decided to count them and there are 90, so sad. But for me it's definitely the process, not the product. Some people are all about the product or finished piece. After I'm done stitching something I'm usually ready to start the next one, so it goes into the bin and is not thought of too much after that! :) That is a good question though. Are you a process or product stitcher?
Now, I do have some finished and framed, they are mostly in Georgia though. The finished needlerolls, etc. are put away too. I put them away for safekeeping until we are in our own place and can display them in a cabinet away from dust, dogs, and children. :)
Well, that's all for now! I'm going to try to get some stitching done before dh gets home. Write later! :)
90! I find that utterly amazing!I doubt if I've finished 90 projects in my life and I've been stitching for 17 years! I am definitely out for the end product, though I totally love the process.
ReplyDeleteGood luck getting your quaker done. The color is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteWow...that's alot of finishes!
ReplyDeleteLove the colours for your quaker.
I'm a process stitcher, too. The main reason for it these days is that I live in a tiny apartment with no wall space available to put up any more pieces.
ReplyDeleteMy goal is to buy a house next year, and when I'm in the house, I'm going to be saving like crazy, so I can get my pieces framed!
For a while, I wasn't stitching pieces that needed to be framed - I was doing a lot of smalls, because of the lack of wall space issue. Now, however, if something calls my name, I'll stitch it.
Quaker is very nice. I like the color.
ReplyDelete90 finished pieces that is spectacular. I pretty much keep things finished up. I don't usually do the finishing. I take to a framer and have someone that does pillows and wallhangings. I could do some of that myself, but that would cut into stitching time.
Wow 90! That is such a shame though. All those beautiful pieces you've stitched and they're hidden away and never seen. :o( I bet you've got enough to make a quilt with for your bed - then they would be on show every day :o))))))
ReplyDeleteI'm a both stitcher - I love the process but all the way through I'm deciding how to finish/get it framed and where it will go, or I'll stitch with a certain person in mind.
Love your quaker and the new stash you bought! Wow 90 finishes all in a bin!!! I can't believe it. Is there another way of displaying them perhaps like a big art folder that folks could flick through? Sounds like a museum piece lol. xx
ReplyDeleteHi, I'm a process stitcher too. I have a case full of finished stitching- not sure how many though. But I never knew there were others out there like me.
ReplyDeleteI have a few finishes tucked away in a drawer but not nearly so many as you ;-). That's a huge number of finishes.
ReplyDeleteLove the Quaker piece.
Your quaker is looking fabulous!
ReplyDelete90...wow!! I have a box with about a dozen or so "unfinished" finishes in it. But I do like having something that I can display, too. I guess I'm a bit of both product and process :)
NINETY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWOWZERS! Uhhh...would you want to ship that container my way?! :)
Your quaker is looking gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI think I'm a bit of both product and process stitcher, I place finishes in a drawer, others gets finished finished immediatley.
Your Quaker sampler is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI am a process and a product stitcher. I love starting a new project and stitching it, the feel of the linens and the wonderful colors of the threads. And, I love framing or finishing the stitching to decorate our home.
Enjoy your weekend!
Lots of nice stash in your last post! I'm starting to accumulate a number of finishes that are waiting to be finished or framed too. I definitely enjoy the process much more than finishing them!
ReplyDeleteYour Quaker looks great, Nicole!
ReplyDeleteWow-90! I thought the 10 or so I have was too much! But I am definately with you on the the process stitching-it's all about the process. And I'll probably have that many some day too, because I very rarely get anything framed anymore.
ReplyDeletewow 90!?!?!?!
ReplyDeleteI'm definatly a process stitcher, I have many things finished to but they all in a little box, I think its more becuase i still live with mom and our styles are sooo diferent but believe once i have my own house lol i'll use evenweave as wall paper or something
I have about half as many finished but unfinished projects as you do (I do work outside the house, and they do frown on my stitching at the desk!). I definitely stitch for the process, only finishing things I mean to give away.
ReplyDeleteFor me it is all about the finished product. If I can't visualize the finish, I can't get the mojo to work on it.
ReplyDeleteI have found that I can’t stand having them in a drawer, so I finish most of them. Also, if I run out of space, I give them to my close friends/family that way I know others will be enjoying it as much as I would. 90 is quite a huge number, you could give some away as Christmas gifts this year :) Or frame some for yourself. I have two kids, and know what you mean about keeping them off of your stuff, but still you gotta hang them up! :D
ReplyDeleteWow, 90 finished! I'm impressed! I've notices that I am becoming a process stitcher. Maybe it has to do with a fact that I don't have any empty walls anymore... :)
ReplyDeleteWow! Thanks for answering my questions. I love to have things finished, and displayed. So I think I am probably more a product than process stitcher. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I counted and I am wrong. I have almost as many as you do--78.
