You know I'm bored when I post twice in one day! I should be stitching, I want to be stitching, but I'm not, hmmm.... Anyway, I decided to try coffee dyeing some fabric. I really like how it turned out!
I just let soak in some coffee for about 15 minutes. I sprinkled some salt in the with it. I rinsed it out some, not too much. I didn't want to lose the color. That happened to me before. Anyway, I'm happy with it! The fabric was white Belfast and Cashel linen.
I also went to the bead store by my house today and picked up some beads. I made this fob for myself today. They had these crystals together in a pack and I fell in love. They are more autumn than winter, but I think they're pretty!
Your fabby turned out great. I think I'm too scared to dye my own :)
ReplyDeleteYour fob looks nice. My favorite colors! Good luck with the getting back to stitching. I can't stay off of the computer long enough to get any stitching done :p
I love how your fabric turned out. You did a great job on that and on you're fob as well. :-)
ReplyDeleteI have to make one of those fobs Real Soon Now. I really liked that you joined your scissors and threader. Those are the only two tools I always need. I am always losing my threader (then buying another one and finding the first one...). You fob is lovely.
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the fabric and fob, Nicole! They both turned out awesome. :-)

You were bored but busy ;-)
ReplyDeleteNice job on the fabric. I am going to try that. The fob is pretty and I love the colors. Next, I am going to have to make a fob. LOL! The more crafting I see the more I want to do!
ReplyDeleteI think your fabric turned out SUPER!
ReplyDeleteAnd the fob is gorgeous :)
I've had that Just Nan in my hands and back out of them about 50 times...so far so good, I haven't bought it! But they are gorgeous!
The fabric and fob turned out great. I didn't add salt when I dyed my fabric in coffee, but I let it boil for about an hour. It even survived a quick bath in Dawn dish soap.
ReplyDeleteYour dye job turned out great.
ReplyDeleteNice looking fob, too!!!
You did a wonderful job dying that fabric! YOu got some great stash!
ReplyDeleteI find somedays I'm not that productive either and just find excuses (like blogging) to avoid doing what needs to be done!
Cool.I would like to try it on my white jobelan fabric too. What's the purpose of using salt? You use cold water?

Your coffee dyed fabric looks great - I really must try that myself :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the inspiration - I have some white belfast linen and think I will try to coffee dye it as I really love the way yours looks. Your fob is so pretty, and useful too!
