I've been stitching away on block eight of Christmas at Hawk Run Hollow when I realize I'm using the wrong green for the lady's dress!
The correct green is on the right, the wrong green on the left. You can see how much I've already done in her skirt and sleeve. The problem is the symbols for the greens are so similar. There is a white "8" in the lighter green, but it's not showing up on the chart. It's just showing up as a white dot. So it looks like I'll be spending some time frogging today.
Here is a picture of the whole thing so far...
Write soon! :)
Edited to add: I took out the dark green and put the lighter green in. I was going to leave it, but then my anal, picky side took over and I had to take it out! :)
YGG Nicole! Personally, I'd leave in the 'incorrect' green and say it made it my own! I think it looks great as is.
ReplyDeleteWow, Nicole! that is looking great!
ReplyDeleteI'd leave it...makes it special...and who has to know??!!
HAPPY STITCHIN'
Terri
Oh, Nicole--leave it! It looks fabulous as is!
ReplyDeleteNicole I agree with Siobhan and dixiesamplar, it looks beautiful and I too would leave it. It would be different if it was a totally different color like red when it should be green, but the shade of green you used is really pretty. I hope you end up doing more stitching than frogging today. This project is really coming along so nicely!
ReplyDeleteOh Nicole, don't frog that! It looks wonderful as it is! Just make it your own and keep it that way. BTW, the whole piece looks spectacular so far!
ReplyDeleteI'm with the others, Nicole. I would have never known this was the "wrong" green if you hadn't said something, and now that I do know, I can't see the problem with it. If it bothers you, go ahead and frog it. But maybe you could try working on another area for a bit first and see if you can't live with this green instead.
ReplyDeleteI'd go with what the consensus is - leave the green, unless you really do like the other one better!
ReplyDeleteHere here! Leave in the wrong green and just change the number on the chart to correspond so you maintain continuity. Or, leave in the wrong and use the correct in other areas that call for it. Who's to say what is correct anyway, right?!
ReplyDeleteLookin' good so far!!!
Oh, Nicole - how very frustrating. I agree with everyone else, just leave it - no one will no but us :-)
ReplyDeleteYou have done a beautiful job - it's such pleasure to watch your progress on this.
Oh what a bummer on the green! I agree with Siobhan. Why bother frogging when it looks so great? :D
ReplyDeleteI'm catching up with you today, and I love seeing such speedy stitching on CaHRH. Since I stitch and think at the same speed (turtles walk faster), it's truly inspiring to watch you and Siobhan and a couple of other speedies whip through projects. I'd leave the wrong green in her skirt ... it looks good.
ReplyDeleteLove your tree, too!
How frustrating when that happens but ... the wrong green looks great Nicole ... save yourself time and leave it in!
ReplyDeleteWow, it looks fantastic! I love Block 10, the cardinals are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWhile I'm glad your forgging went smoothly I have to admit that you're a much better woman than I. I'd have gone on as I started. :) Probably explains the mess in my hovel.
ReplyDeleteI have an anal, picky side too. Totally understand. Your CaHRH is looking so great!! You are getting it stitched so incredibly fast. You can stitch four blocks in the time I stitch one. LOL! Your tree looks great!!!
ReplyDeleteOMG, that's incredibly gorgeous. I want to start it...(whining loudly).
ReplyDeleteOh, no! How terrible, Nicole! I guess the chart isn't very easy to read? Well, the Gentleman looks good.
ReplyDeleteAny progress on Jenny Bean?
Knew you wouldn't be able to leave it. It probably would have looked fine, but I know the feeling, it eats at you knowing it's not what the chart calls for. Great progress anyway.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment on my BBB. You know you could do it again some day. Too many other charts to get through though. I know, I know! :)
I love to see your progress. You are really moving along. Do you have a specific goal for finishing in mind? Seeing this made up via the web makes me want to get the pattern and make the blocks into Christmas ornaments. Thanks, for the ongoing inspiration.
ReplyDeleteNie progress. I love the Hawk Run series but don't own any yet. Some day I hope to make a beautiful project like yours!

Love seeing your progress on this piece - if picking it out made you feel better then I'm glad you bit the bullet. Some mistakes can be overlooked and some not - either way it has to work for you - Blogger is not updating for me so I did not get to your other posts - glad you got a tree up this year and loved seeing your wonderful exchange items from Michelle.
