I have been working on CaHRH quite a bit this week. Here is my progress on block 6.

CaHRH block 6 progress

I have also been working on Jenny Bean's Christmas Sampler in the car while waiting for my sons to get out of school.

I love Glenna's latest post about "Sampling Samplers." That's such a good phrase for what I do often! I have many things I have started just to "sample" them. In fact I decided to sample a sampler that I had once started a long time ago. I started this sampler when Matthew was a baby. I decided I just couldn't stitch it, that is was too big and the 40 ct. was just too hard for me at the time. I put it away and then I ended up cutting the linen and selling the pattern. Well, it's been a few years, Matthew is older, I've grown used to 40 ct. and large samplers, so I decided to tackle this big project again. I'm talking about "And They Sinned" by Examplars From the Heart.

And They Sinned restart
40 ct. Elegant Bean from Elegant Stitch, GAST (1 over 2)

Ack! As I was typing this my ds just spilled my coffee on the sampler and some of the threads. I quickly rinsed it in cold water and it seems to fine. Thankfully the threads didn't run. And I guess it's pretty good I got Elegant Bean fabric, which is dyed using coffee, so a little more coffee on it isn't going to hurt it. What a mess. Thankfully, it turned out ok! Well, I'd better try to dry it now. Write soon! :)

  6. Nicole I am sorry I had to leave for a phone call yesterday when we were chatting. It was my brother and he doesn't call very often. His timing could have been better!! I love your stitching progress and I always kind of wondered what happened to And They Sinned! It is such a pretty sampler and I also have wondered if I would ever get it done if I were to get this one. I am glad you were able to salvage the sampler after a coffee spill! That could have been a disaster! I love your progress here on all of your stitching!

  7. I love all your WIPs! Thank goodness that spill wasn't disastrous! Whew! Am I correct that you're starting ATS in the bottom left hand as you usually do? How exciting! I love you and Tanya for starting in the bottom left hand corner! :D We get to see parts of samplers we often don't get to see!

Love all your WIP - I have been in the same mode as both you and Glenna. I think I have settled on Elizabeth Savilles for now.

  18. I think you are going to be so pleased with the CaHRH piece when you're done. I think it may be my favourite of the HRH designs.

How did you get so far with JB Christmas?!!! Blink and I missed how you did that!;-)

You're a brave girl to tackle ATS! Good luck!

  19. I love your progress on both CaHRH and Jenny Bean, Nicole. You're really making great progress on Christmas and I'm just loving watching each block evolve. And I'm so glad that you are going to stitch ATS. I can understand why you didn't stitch it before - it's like we evolve over time with what we will and won't stitch - I wouldn't do queen stitches in anything - now there is no problems with them. So I'm glad that you picked it back up again. It's such a fun stitch

  21. What great progress on CAHRH and JB. Although I thought I liked the cardinal block most on CaHRH, I now think I like your current one better.

Exactly, about the sampling samplers. Thinking about it that way makes me feel less as if I've started a project that I've failed to finish and more like the days where I try on two or four shirts to see which one I really feel like wearing.

  24. Love your WIPs Nicole! I'm so glad the coffee accident wasn't a total disaster... you'll just have a bit more mottling on your piece of linen. Looking forward to watching your progress on ATS. You do go for the BIG projects!

  27. Whew...hope the drying process went well and everything is okay. I bet that gave you quite a scare. I love ATS...haven't been brave enough to tackle it yet, but I will enjoy watching your progress. You stitch so fast that you will whip this one out in no time. :) Your progress on CaHRH and Jenny Bean are both great. I loved stitching with those colors in Jenny Bean. I need to get back to CaHRH! I haven't even started block 2 yet. Aren't you excited about Autumn aHRH? I can't wait to see it. Love the Sampling of Samplers!!

  29. Your blog is torture for me, Nicole! I keep trying to tell myself that I don't need to do CaHRH just yet, and that I can wait on Jenny Bean's Christmas sampler till I get her Halloween sampler stitched. Then I click on your blog and I'm sunk. At least I have ATS already stitched. Phew. ;) I am glad that the spill was fixable... just figure it adds to the charm! ;)

  30. I just love the skaters, the one in the middle looks like a little elf, and my son (6) has just said that he thinks the ship is great and could I stitch it for him. Bless.

  31. I can't get over how much stitching you get through, Nicole. I'm not at the stage to tackle those big samplers, but good on you for giving it another go!

  32. Yikes about the coffee spill! Glad it was ok. I love how the threads look on the Elegant Bean 40ct. How fun you're starting at the bottom too - that will be fun to watch your progress. CaHRH is gorgeous - you are really zipping along. And of course I love JB. I just bought the pattern and fabric for that one. If I had the threads, I'd start it! I loved Glenna's post too - I think that's what I'm doing lately as well!
