I decided to go to my not-so-LNS, It's a Stitch, today. I needed to match up a skein of silk for Jane Tindall. Margaret let me know that two of 3734 are needed. Thankfully, they had one in stock and it matched!
On the way back I stopped at an antique mall and found a glass flower frog. I have always wanted one to hold my scissors. I found a little glass bowl there to set it on also.
It was great find and not very expensive at all! My next stop was Five Guys, for a very yummy and very peaceful lunch. My dh was so sweet to watch the kids so I could have a few hours to myself. After Five Guys I stopped at Barnes and Noble - first stop, Starbucks, to get a Tall Caffe Mocha! :) While there I found this knitting book - Toe-Up 2-at-a-Time Socks. I have always wanted to try toe-up socks and I have always wanted to try two-at-a-time. So I came home and cast on right away. I'm having so much fun knitting these.
Well, I'm going to get back to my socks! Thank you to everyone for your very kind comments on Margaret Havelock - They mean to much to me. Write soon!
What a perfect day out, Nicole--you deserve it!
ReplyDeleteOoh, Starbucks! Love Barnes &Noble
ReplyDeleteGreat find at the antique shop- and the scissors look fabulous in it too!! Great finish on Margaret btw!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a heavenly day Nicole, nice froggy you got there, glad you enjoyed:)
ReplyDeleteGreat antique store score!! You just have to love a flower frog. And Starbucks and Five Guys - Ymmm. I have yet to try Five Guys but my son says they're really good. Sounds like you have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you were able to find a few hours for yourself. You deserve it. Congratulations on your great finds.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great day! Love your flower frog! Love the socks too! I still have to learn how to knit socks, much less two at the same time. lol!
ReplyDeleteO yay! I have that book! Its an awesome book! I just taught myself to knit last year and immediately wanted to do socks. I tried using double pointed needles, made one sock and was done. No good. Also, I super suck at grafting toes, and this method takes it totally out of the equation. Can't wait to see your finished pair!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the successful outings today! Those are surely cute socks - I read someone else today knitting socks toe up, but she didn't say anything about two at a time...
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great day! We all need more of those.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a PERFECT day to me!! Have fun with the socks!!
ReplyDeleteGreat day with all those stores and goodies!
ReplyDeleteYour socks are looking good!

ReplyDeletegreat finds Nicole! i fill my bases of my frogs with crushed walnut shells so they keep the scissors sharp. :) lord knows i have at least 10 of the frogs and still alway looking for more and in different colors. LOL
ReplyDeleteYour day sounds like HEAVEN! The flower frog is so so pretty. I need to find one of these things. When I see one on a blog, I just love it! Enjoy your knitting! It's one of my resolutions this year to try and learn that.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I love your scissor-holder-thingy! It's fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThis is my first time knitting toe-ups, and although I like the toe and foot part, I don't like short-row heels, and I *definitely* don't like increasing for the calf. Next time: top down knee socks for me! However, yours look super fantastic. Enjoy!
Sounds like a great day!!!!! And fun finds :-). Love that frog.
