Needlecrafts of all Sorts!

The rocks are finished! I was determined to get them done last night. Now I'm on to more solid stitching. A very nice change! Please excuse the wrinkles (too lazy to iron). :)

I went up to Amy's yesterday as planned. We had a fun day - not a stitching day, but a knitting and crochet day. She has always wanted to learn how to knit, so I brought some yarn, needles, and a couple books up with me. I showed her the basics of casting on and the knit stitch. She was doing very well, but decided to crochet a little (which she is an expert at). She started on a dishcloth and finished it up in no time, and she gave it to me, which was very sweet of her!!

I love it! Thank you again Amy! I decided to get out my old BFF socks. I love the one I finished and really wanted to finish the second sock. I was stuck on the pattern though. I couldn't remember how I did the cable increase. I tried it and ripped and tried it and ripped some more. When I got home I finally figured it out.

BFF Socks

Hopefully, I'll be able to get them finished up soon!

In other news - I got a couple threads (still missing one - it's on back order with the dyer) I was needing for "Jane Tindall 1864." I just love this sampler. I hope to start it sometime in 2011. :)

Well, nothing else going on here! Just cleaning, so I can relax and stitch (or knit). Write soon!

  1. Oh those fibers make me drool - lovely! I love that dishcloth - and what a cheerful color. I bought tulips at the store today for some color in the house ... I'm already sick of winter's greyness. Bring the snow or bring spring is what I say. lol

Happy cleaning, I mean stitching :)

I can't crochet to save my life and the only thing I can knit is dishcloths.

  10. Shores is looking good and I just love those fibers for your new start.

And your sock really looks great. I've always been afraid to try something like that. I guess the less complicated the better for me. Glad that you figured out the cable increase so that you can finish them soon.

Nice going with the socks. I am a very beginner when it comes to knitting and couldn't imagine being able to knit socks that I could wear. Yeah for you:)))

  15. Congrats on getting over the rocks! That's a very pretty sampler. I have ordered Ann Rayner, and spent some time today looking at my HDF silks. Made me want to use 'em, so I'm stitching a little cardinal ornament with them tonight. I'm no fancy knitter, and car hardly do a crochet chain, but think I'd like to be better at it when I see great things like your socks and Amy's dishcloth. Don't really know when I would, though. Love stitching too much!

  17. Nicole I just love your socks! The color you are using is just beautiful! You make me want to learn to do that too! I am crocheting this granny stripe afghan in new colors and am loving it so much! There is a blog in typepad called Attic 24 and she is who a lot of crocheters look up too. She put up a pattern for all of us to enjoy for this Granny Stripe. I love your progress too on Shores! I hope to get back to mine one day too!
