To keep my mind off the house, I decided to start Frances Pool. I really love it so far!

I have another project I'm going to start with my husband soon. We have an old kitchen table and chairs that we plan to paint black. I found this blog that has great instructions. I hope ours come out as nice as her table and chairs did. It will definitely save a lot of money and I think will look nice in our new house. I have also been pouring over paint samples. I'm leaning towards Behr Wheat Bread or Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter for the dining room and kitchen.
Congratulations! How exciting! I can't mwait to see your new home and also your new DIY project. I have been wanting to paint my coffee table but have yet to muster up the courage. I think once the "winter" is over here in South Carolina I will take it out on the porch and try working on it.

Love your Frances Pool so far! And yay on the house! I will keep my fingers crossed that all goes smoothly and that you are all moved in on schedule!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the house! It is so exciting and nerve-racking all at the same time, but worth it! I love to paint my furniture there aren't too many pieces in my house that haven't been painted by me. I do have a few recommendations for you (mostly learned by error). In regards to the Behr paint I would recommend not getting the one with the primer included. I have found it will peel right off of the furniture. Also I don't strip the furniture unless it is already painted. If you use Klean-Strip 1 qt. KS-3 Premium Stripper it will bubble up the paint and it will come off easily. Especially if you have design work in the wood of the furniture you are painting. If you use Glidden Gripper for the primer have them add some black into which will tint the prime to a dark grey. With the primer being tinted it will only take one or two coats of paint. If the primer isn't tinted you are taking in most cases white primer and then multiple colored layers are required to get the color you would like. We just finished painting bookcases yesterday in the Behr Black Suede referenced in the link you had. Good Luck! It is very fun and worth the work also a great way to give a new look to your furniture.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, its always so exciting to get a new house! and to make it home. Hope you show progress of your furniture painting and your start looks good
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the new home! I can't wait to see how your table and chairs turn out! I'm sure it will be amazing, and you'll be so surprised at how easy it is to paint furniture! Hope the tutorial helps. I'm glad you found it!
